About CEAT Car Tyres
Origin and Expansion
Headquartered in Mumbai, the RPG Enterprises owned flagship company CEAT was established in 1958. Today, CEAT is one of India’s leading tyre manufacturers and has strong presence in global markets. CEAT produces over 35 million tyres a year and offers the widest range of tyres to all segments and manufactures world-class radials for: heavy-duty trucks and buses, light commercial vehicles, earthmovers, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and cars.
In the year 1993 the company entered into a collaboration agreement with Yokohama Rubber Company of Japan for the manufacture of Tyres at Nasik plant. In the year 1996 the company launched a new radial car tyre 'Maestro' the first radial tyre in India to use state-of-the-art polyester tyre cord technology combined with steel belts. The brand’s products are exported to more than 130 countries, especially in the truck, OTR and LCV categories.
Achievements
This company has been successful in making a mark of its own in the global tyre market. It has received a number of awards from the time of its commencement. Some of its achievements include:
- CEAT is the first and possibly only tyre company in India to be awarded the International accreditation ISO/TS 16949 – 2002 Quality Standard Certification and a TUV certificate, besides holding the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.
- It has won the National Excellence Award for employee relations from the Employers Federation of India.
- It is the first tyre manufacturing company in the world outside Japan to receive the ‘Deming Prize for Total Quality Management’ in 2017.
- The company was ranked highest in India for Original Equipment (OE) tyre customer satisfaction, in a study by JD Power.
- It has won the CAPEXIL Export Award, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India.
