Apollo Launches Apterra AT2 SUV Tyres

The Apterra AT2 designed with saw-tooth technology comes with upgraded terrain performance, durability and puncture resistance
Gurugram -based tyre manufacturer Apollo today launched the second version of Apterra range for SUVs in India. The new Apterra AT2, designed with saw-tooth shoulder technology complements Apollo’s existing Apterra range of tyres and now covers almost entire range of SUV segment.
These tyres will be rolled out in phases and the first lot will be launched in eight sizes which will target SUVs like Pajero Sports, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra XUV 300, Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Safari, Tata Hexa, Mahindra TUV 300 and Mahindra Balero. It will also include replacement units for Fortuner and Mahindra XUV 500.
In the passenger vehicle segment, Apollo has 30 per cent market share in the OE segment and 16 per cent share in replacement segment. In terms of pricing for the new Apterra AT2, the company says that they will command a 10 per cent increase over the current range of Apterra tyres. However, the prices will be lower than that of, Bridgestone in the same segment.
In the second phase, the tyre manufacturer plans to offer six different tyre sizes and expand to 20-inches. The Apterra AT2 tyres were co-developed by the Netherlands and Chennai teams and will be manufactured in Vadodara, Gujrat.
Commenting on the launch, Satish Sharma, President, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, Apollo Tyres, said, “We are sharpening our focus on SUV segment in India, with specialized tyres for different terrains, as this vehicle segment is growing faster than passenger cars.”
He also said, “In the passenger segment, most of the OEMs prefer Apollo Tyres including the new entrants in the market like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Venue and the MG Hector as well.”
