Apollo’s Air Master by Vredestein front spoiler receives DKG Product award

Apollo Tyres has been internationally recognised for Air Master product under its recently-acquired Vredestein brand. This newly-developed front spoiler system received a prestigious DKG Product Award at International Rubber Conference in the “Technical Rubber Products and Tyres” category. Air Master is a flexible and variable front spoiler made out of a specially-developed rubber compound. This product was developed with exclusive partnership with Porsche for its high-end sports cars. However, this system can be installed on any other premium sports car too.
This variable front spoiler was made out of a specially developed EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber compound. This compound is strong as well as elastic in nature and has superior weather resistance. At low speed when the spoiler is not required, it retracts under the front bumper and helps increase the car’s ground clearance. At high speeds, it extends itself out and improves the aerodynamics by channeling air around the wheels, thereby improving efficiency. In performance mode, the spoiler is extended further to provide additional downforce. The spoiler is pneumatically-powered and can change its shape with the help of several air chambers. The entire system was developed in the company’s Global R&D center in Enschede.

The International Rubber Conference is held once every three years and Deutsche Kautschukgesellschaft e.V (DKG) is organising it in Nuremberg, Germany from June 29 – July 2. Numerous leading speakers from around the world will be delivering around 150 lectures and around 270 exhibitors are showcasing their products at the event.
