Indian racer and JK Tyre brand ambassador, Armaan Ebrahim, along with his Sri-Lankan team-mate Dilantha Malagam, has won the second race of round one of Lamborghini Super Trofeo series held at Fiji in Japan. Armaan started fifth on the starting grid after a heavy rain but he gradually improved lap after lap and after twenty minutes into the race, he took the lead after overtaking Yadai Uchida and Davide Rizzo. After building a comfortable lead, car was handed over to the team mate Dilantha Malagam and Dilantha maintained the lead before crossing the chequered flag.
In the race 1 however, Armaan and Dilantha had a big disappointment when the lug nut on one of the wheels got stuck during a pitlane stop. Due to the time lost in the pitlane, the duo dropped down to 12th position on the grid from 3rd position. However, post that, both the drivers drove an impressive race that put the car on 5th place after overtaking 7 cars. Armaan delivered a great performance having very limited track time and driving a race-spec Lamborghini Huracan for the first time.
Speaking on the occasion, Armaan said: "It's great to take a win and though I have been getting several podiums in the last couple of years an overall first place was always eluding me”.
The remaining round of this series will be held on other Asian tracks like Shanghai, Sentul, and Okayama. Also, on 21st and 22nd November, the Super Trofeo World Final will be held at Sebring, which will include grid lineup from Europe, Asia, and America.
