The new Thar retains the classy looks, with modern touches that make it an absolute head turner. The tough off-roader comes with rounded headlamps, LED DRLs and vertical slats in the grille at the front. The rear profile features LED tail lights, while a full-sized spare wheel and a robust tailgate uplift its muscular character.

The new Thar gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit powered by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with navigation support. The vehicle further gets features such as a height-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, reclining rear seats, USB charging port, coloured MID display, and steering-mounted audio & phone controls.

The safety department has also been upgraded with features, including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESP with rollover mitigation, panic braking signal, speed-sensing front door locks, seat-belt reminder, high-speed warning, roll cage, and ISOFIX child seat at the rear. The Thar also gets tyre-specific features, including a tyre direction monitoring system, Tyre-Tronics aka TPMS, and snow chain provision.
The new Mahindra Thar comes in two engine options; a 2.0L turbocharged petrol motor that produces 150PS and 300Nm, and a 2.2L diesel unit generating 130PS and 300Nm (320Nm with automatic transmission). Both the engines are available with a 6-speed MT, and an optional 6-speed automatic torque converter.

The Thar is a pure off-roader, so both the engines are available with a 4X4 mechanism. There are two trims available, AX(O) and LX, and six elegant colour options, including Rocky Beige, Mystic Copper, Aquamarine, Napoli Black, Red Rage, and Galaxy Grey.
