Bridgestone, a major tyre manufacturer, is all set for expanding its production in India. The company has invested Rs. 350 crore in the Indore plant, located in Kheda, Madhya Pradesh. The capacity will see an increase in the production, with the plant setting a goal of producing 20,000 tyres each day by the year 2020, as stated by the company. The expansion comes at a time when there is a rise in the demand for Bridgestone tyres in the country. The company will use this plant to manufacture its radial tyre range for the passenger car market.

The Indore plant is spread across an area of 76 acres. Managing Director of Industrial Development Corporation Ltd., Vivek Porwal, has inaugurated the plant. The COO of Bridgestone Corporation, Mr. Akihiro Eto, and Consul General of Japan in Mumbai, Mr. Michio Harada were also present at the event. Mr. Parag Satpute, the Managing Director of Bridgestone India has said, “This expansion is our response to the trust and confidence of our OEM partners in our project offerings. Through this expansion, we also demonstrate our commitment to create value for a larger base of Indian consumers with our world-class quality. India’s growth prospects in the mid to long term future are positive. And Bridgestone India is ready to take the lead in being a trusted partner to our customers, dealers, consumers, and all other stakeholders at large"

Bridgestone had founded the Indore plant in the year 1998, a couple of years after it set up Bridgestone India Pvt.Ltd. In 2013, the tyre manufacturer established another plant in Chakan, Pune, further expanding its production in the country. In addition to tyres, Bridgestone also manufactures industrial rubber, sports goods, and chemical products all over the world.
