Pirelli motorcycle tyres can now be bought from CEAT dealerships

CEAT Tyres has bagged the exclusive distribution rights for Pirelli's global range of motorcycle tyres in India. Pirelli has been a pioneer in manufacturing high-performance motorcycle tyres and has various types of premium motorcycle tyres under its global portfolio.
Coincidentally, the Italian tyre manufacturer was once the owner of CEAT but with a different name. Under Pirelli's ownership, CEAT was known as Cavi Electrici e Affini Torino SpA. About five years ago, RPG Enterprise took over global rights of CEAT from Pirelli for a reported amount of Rs 55 crore. The full range of Pirelli motorcycle tyres will be made available at select CEAT dealerships from this week onwards.
Anant Goenka, Managing Director of CEAT said, "We are excited to partner with a global tyre major like Pirelli to introduce their range of motorcycle tyres in India. We have always believed in offering world-class products to our consumers and Pirelli’s range of premium tyres for specialised high-end motorcycles is another step in that direction."
Till now, Pirelli motorcycle tyres were made available in the country mainly via private importers. But the distribution network was very unorganised and unable to meet growing demands.
Premium motorcycle sales are expected to grow by 16 per cent for the next five years in India. This provides a good opportunity for the Italian tyre maker to dominate the replacement tyre market. CEAT having a vast distribution network pan India will immensely help Pirelli. Additionally, Metzeler brand is a part of Pirelli group therefore, Metzeler tyre range will also be offered at CEAT's dealerships.
Uberto Thun, Senior VP, Pirelli Tyre said, "We are glad to partner with CEAT to bring our range of products in India. CEAT’s vast experience of selling tyres in the market and their vast network make them the perfect partner to distribute and activate our products in the market. India has huge potential in premium and super sport motorcycle segment and we feel we can grow very fast with our premium products."
Presently, CEAT is one of India’s leading tyre manufacturers that also has presence in many global markets. The company has a production capacity of over 700 tonnes per day. The current portfolio of the company includes tyres for trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles, earthmovers, forklifts, trailers, tractors, cars, two-wheelers and auto-rickshaws.
