Continental to now train Automotive Software Development

From September 2015, Continental will be introducing a new career training program. This training program will provide opportunity to youngsters, who have keen interest in IT, to be trained by Continental to become automotive software developers. This program will train the students to analyze and develop sophisticated program structures for automobiles.

The content of this program focuses on mathematical technical software developers but will also provide additional training in embedded software development and electronics. Frank Michael Hell, Chairman of Continental’s Group Works Council said, "Previously, you would need a degree if you wanted to become a software developer. Trained technicians have been the exception to date. We are, therefore, delighted to be able to offer opportunities for people who want to develop their skills without going to university or for those who may have had to interrupt their studies in order to work."

The program duration will be three years and the first year of training programs will be conducted at 28 places available at nine sites in Germany. Anyone with the necessary skills and capabilities, including good knowledge of mathematics, can join this program.

Ariane Reinhart, Continental’s Board Member for Human Resources said, "With our tagline Moving Over to Move Up, we at Continental also wish to give opportunities to young people who may have had to interrupt their studies and are looking for a practical trainee-ship with career prospects, and for us, the focus is on finding the best fit between Continental and the employee.”

The students graduating from this program will obtain IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) degree as mathematical technical software developers and also a certificate from the vocational school. More information about this program can be obtained from: www.ausbildung-continental.de
