Continental has launched a new tyre line for intercity buses, named CoachRegio. According to the tyre company, “The new tyre line offers reliable and safe touring between cities and villages under variable speed conditions, excellent handling and high mileage on hilly and winding regional road.”
“The Conti CoachRegio line includes an all axle fitment tyre as well as a dedicated drive axle tire. The new design fulfils the needs of fleet customers who operate in short distance travel and intercity transportation in general as well as those who operate tourism buses, tour buses, school buses or workers shuttles.”
The tyre range includes an all-axle fitment tyre, the CoachRegio HA3 295/80 R 22.5, and a dedicated drive axle tyre, the CoachRegio HD3. The latter will also be available from the end of this year as ContiRe CoachRegio HD3, manufactured using Continental’s hot retreading solution.
The CoachRegio range carries the 3PMSF mark ( The "Alpine" symbol, or the three-peak-mountain with snowflake (‘3PMSF’) and delivers a load capability of LI 154/149 – the highest load capability for drive axle tyres in the coach and intercity segment, thanks to a durable and robust casing, says the tyre maker.
Lutz Stäbner, head of product management for truck and bus tyres in EMEA, says: “With this new tyre line, our balanced compound has enabled Continental to overcome the technical challenge of developing a tyre with increased safety and mileage, while also delivering low rolling resistance performance for regional bus applications.”
The Conti CoachRegio HA3 has full-depth siping technology for good wet and winter performance, with straight grooves in the outer ribs for structural stability as well as zig-zag inner grooves for optimal performance against stone retention.
The Conti CoachRegio HD3 also features a new tie-bar shoulder design that increases robustness and minimizes damage from kerb impact, while the full-depth 3D sipes enhance water displacement and thus guarantee improved wet performance, traction and safety.
