Dunlop has announced that it will be the OE tyre supplier for the new Mercedes-AMG C63 AMG sedan. The tyre manufacturer will be supplying its Sport Maxx RT range of ultra high-performance tyres for the performance sedan. The company says these tyres are a result of an extensive joint development work between Dunlop and Mercedes. The Sport Maxx RT tyres have been developed and track-tested at the Nurburgring racetrack in Germany in order to match the grunt of the fourth-generation C63 AMG sedan.
The main features of the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT include exceptional dry and wet grip, precise and stable handling at high cornering speeds and strong braking performance. These features make it suitable for use on the 469hp Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan. Further, Dunlop has come up with an optimal balance between front and rear axles as the tyres have a specially-tuned construction to maximize grip. Dunlop claims it is a direct result from its motorsport operations.
Commenting on the performance of the tyre, Percy Lemaire, Director, Tire Technology at Goodyear Dunlop, explained, "In order to achieve the high dry handling requirements, a mixture is used with a high proportion of different fillers, resins and special polymers, delivering strong dry grip."
The Dunlop Sport Maxx RT is made in a size of 245/35 ZR19 (93Y) XL (front) and 265/35 ZR19 in (98Y) XL (rear).
In addition to the recently announced venture, Dunlop has also developed tyres for other Mercedes-AMG models including the A45 AMG, the CLA45Â AMG and the G63 AMG.
