Tyre manufacturer Goodyear has started online tyre sale in Europe, informed the company in a release. The move comes four years after the company first started selling tyres online direct to consumers in U.S.
It has launched online sales of the tyres in Germany as the pilot market on the market. Gradually, the company will launch this program in more markets across Europe. Goodyear is offering German consumers the option to purchase tires and schedule installation on its website.
“This program responds to the needs of consumers who prefer the convenience of online shopping,” said Frédéric Schilling, Director E-Commerce Channel, Consumer Europe at Goodyear.
“Goodyear is now offering German drivers a seamless online shopping experience, the superior performance of Goodyear tyres and the confidence of having them installed by a trusted local retailer,” Jürgen Titz, Managing Director Consumer EU Central & Car Dealer Channel added.
Goodyear says it has adopted the model of its U.S online model for this pilot project. An initial step of the tyre selection process asks consumers to choose whether they are shopping for summer, winter or all-season tyres. All tire and installation costs are paid online and upfront, allowing consumers to simply show up for the appointment at their scheduled installation time.
