Published On 24-Feb-2022
KTM 250 Duke is a lightweight, compact street bike with nasty looks and aggressive performance. If you are the owner of this streetfighter, here are the best tyre options.
In 2017, the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM surprised the Indian bike enthusiast with a new bike sitting between Duke 390 and 200. The 250 Duke is a blend of optimal riding excitement with the best user value.
The street bike was introduced as a lightweight and powerful motorcycle, packed with advanced technology, the qualities which are required by a large chunk of motorcycle enthusiasts. The bike posed a serious challenge to the Bajaj Dominar 250 and similar models in the Indian market.
The updated model of KTM 250 Duke was introduced in 2020 with several enhancements. The model replaced the halogen lamp with a full LED headlamp shared from expensive siblings 390 Duke and 390 Adventure.
The bike now features a predatory design with a steel fuel tank and high-quality cast parts spread across. The Duke 250 comes equipped with a digital LCD that besides displaying a large speedometer, gives information on fuel gauge, engaged gear, trip indicator and service reminder, among other crucial inputs.
In terms of power, there are no changes as the bike continues to sport the same 248.8cc single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid-cooled engine that produces 30PS and 24Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox assisted by a slipper clutch that prevents the rear wheel from locking during sharp braking and aggressive downshifting.
Further, the 250 Duke comes with Bosch-sourced dual-circuit ABS featuring a ‘Supermoto’ mode that deactivates the ABS at the rear, allowing enhanced control and safety. The one-touch electric start eliminates the need for pressing and holding the start button to kick off the engine.
Crafted on the steel trellis frame, the Duke 250 features inverted telescopic fork (USD) at the front, and WP Apex Mono shock suspension at the rear. The bike comes with a comfortable and secure seat height of 822mm. And with 300mm disc brakes upfront and 230mm at the rear, the Duke 250 aims to deliver pro-level stopping power. The 13.4L fuel tank not only offer a long-range but is also ergonomically one of the best.
The KTM 250 Duke is available in a single variant and two colour options, including Silver Metallic and Dark Galvano.
