Here Are The Best Tyres For Mercedes-Benz GLA
Published On 04-May-2022
The Mercedes-Benz GLA might not be your quintessential go-anywhere SUV, but impresses with its perfect blend of dynamic styling, luxurious interior and well-sorted mechanicals. Here is a detailed description of about its tyres if you are looking for a tyre replacement.
Positioned as the most affordable SUV in Mercedes-Benz’s lineup, the GLA was introduced in India to attract more number of younger buyers to the opulent world of the German marque. With its comparatively affordable pricing, the Mercedes Benz GLA widened the customer base with many people who were new to the brand. Despite its affordable pricing, the Mercedes Benz GLA didn’t compromise on the traditional virtues of offering unparalleled luxury and excellent driving appeal and comfort.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA came to India for the first time in 2014 with its first-generation version, and in 2017, this generation model received a mild facelift and variant revisions. The all-new second-generation GLA arrived in India in 2021, a much sleeker and more luxurious SUV than its predecessor.
In terms of looks, the new Mercedes-Benz GLA is larger than its previous-generation version in every sense, which now makes it look more in line with the bigger SUVs from the brand like the GLC and GLE.
The front grille is wider, gets rounded edges and has a single horizontal slat in the middle. The headlamps look smaller than before, but they are more angular this time and have an all-LED arrangement. The front bumper gets a bone-like pattern with a three-box skid plate at the bottom.
The GLA continues to ride on 18-inch wheels, though the design of the alloy wheels is new, with the wheels positioned within squared-off wheel arches. The rear profile of the Mercedes-Benz GLA is revised with sleeker-looking LED tail lamps, which look sharper than the bulbous-looking tail lamps of the previous generation model. The lower half of the rear bumper, with its heavy black plastic cladding, makes the GLA look rugged from behind.
The interior of the new Mercedes-Benz GLA looks even more drastically changed, with the cabin exhibiting an all-new layout. It now gets the brand’s full-TFT cockpit comprising two 10.25-inch screens integrated within it – one behind the steering wheel for the main instrument console and the other in the centre console for the touchscreen infotainment system.
Speaking of the infotainment system, it is powered by the current-gen MBUX software, which is compatible with ‘Mercedes Me’ connected car services. The GLA is heavily equipped with notable features like a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charger, powered front seats with memory, 64-colour ambient lighting and more.

The second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA gets all-new powertrain options - a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. The 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 161 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque and is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel, on the other hand, claims 188 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque and is offered with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Mercedes-Benz GLA Tyres & Wheels
Except for the pre-facelift first-generation version (2014-2017), which was available only as a front-wheel-drive SUV, the other two versions – facelifted first-generation (2017-2020) and second-generation version (2021-till date) have come equipped with two different tyre sizes. While the front-wheel-drive versions of the SUV have always got 235/50 R18 tyres, the more premium all-wheel-drive 4MATIC variants get slightly lower-profile 235/45 R19 tyres.
