The compact sedan from the house of Tata offers incredible reliability. However, it’s the tyres that need to be replaced to continue reaping benefits from the Zest. Read on to know the tyre replacement options for your Zest.
The car which made Tata Motors compete in style and features with its competitors was undoubtedly the Tata Zest. It also kick-started the Impact design philosophy of the revered auto player. Launched in 2014, the Zest has been a decent seller till April 2019, a month in which Tata decided to pull the plug on the vehicle permanently.
The compact sedan raised the bar of quality and cabin ambience in its category. In fact, it served as a benchmark for features and safety on offer at its price point. The car wasn’t an out of the box designing marvel but was way better than previous Tata cars and gave a sense of the road Tatas are going to take in the near future.
The sub-4m sedan got a signature family grille at the front with the humanity line. The combo of projector lamps with LED DRLs and light guide elate the appearance of the Zest. The short bonnet didn’t make the car feel too compact to accommodate 5 passengers. It was tastefully done.
On the sides, the sharp shoulder lines originate from the front fender and run across the profile including door handles before merging with the wraparound tail lamps. It gets 8-spoke alloy wheels that complete its side stance.
The highlight at the back is the thick chrome strap on the boot lid flanked by tail lamps. The boot blends flawlessly with the overall proportions of the vehicle.
Inside the Zest, the interiors were far better than any other Tata cars of that time. The black and beige upholstery feels light on the eyes and gives a sense of spaciousness inside the cabin. The three-spoke steering wheel got mounted controls, which was a welcome addition at that point in time.

Barring the little short under-thigh support at the rear, the seating was comfortable for both rows. It gets oodles of space – a trademark of Tata cars. It gets a 390-litres of boot space as well.
In the engine department, the Zest got two options – a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. With the petrol motor, it develops max power of 90PS and peak torque of 140Nm. The diesel one, on the other hand, produces 75PS and 190Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard with both the engine types, however, the diesel also gets a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The Zest returned a claimed mileage of 17.57kmpl, 22.95kmpl and 21.58kmpl with its petrol, diesel manual and diesel automatic, respectively. It also got three drive modes – city, eco and sports.
