The Yamaha FZ has been in the Indian market for over a decade now, and the excitement and fervour for this bike are still unmatchable. Over the years, the bike has gone through several enhancements, including under the hood as well as cosmetic updates to keep up with its contemporaries. The second-generation model FZ-S was launched in 2014, followed by a third-generation BS6 compliant model called FZ-S FI in 2019.

The latest 2021 retains the same muscular and sharp design, and the same large proportions, with a wider fuel tank and shrouds extending to the front of the engine. The bike features chrome accents around the faux air intake like vents on the front part of the tank and also a belly pan. The motorcycle now also boasts of a new 3D emblem.

Additionally, the new FZ-S Fi comes equipped with cutting edge features such as an LED headlight, a fully digital LCD instrument cluster with a digital clock and eco indicator, a two-level one-piece seat and Bosch sourced single-channel ABS. As per the company’s claim, the exhaust system has now been tuned to produce much better sound than the previous one. Furthermore, the company has now given a side-stand engine cut-off switch while the Bluetooth connectivity is now standard across the FZS-FI range.

Coming to the engine specs, the bike gets the same 149cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled, SOHC 2-valve fuel-injected motor that generates 12.4PS and 13.6Nm of torque, coupled with a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. The bike is also 2kgs lighter at 135kgs than the previous one. The suspension setup at the front is telescopic fork 7-step and adjustable monocross at the rear.

Yamaha has added some more grunt and level of refinement with the FZ-S latest model. The bike handles the road brilliantly and tackles the corners with ease. The soft suspension makes it easier to traverse on the bad roads, while the front 100/80-17 and massive 140/60 R17 rear tyre are more than capable of sticking on the ground irrespective of the surface conditions.
