JK Tyre, Tata Motors announce launch of new kart-racing series - IndiKarting National Series

No one can deny the contribution of JK Tyre in popularising motorsports in India. The tyre maker has now joined hands with Tata Motors to kick-off the IndiKarting National Series, an event that aims to promote motorsports at the most basic level - kart racing. The event will be commencing in Pune next week.
The racing series will follow a one-make format and feature 4-stroke karts with similar specifications. This will ensure a level-playing field and winners will get a sponsored entry in the JK Tyre National Rotax Max Karting Championship. In the senior category, the winners will get a chance to race with some of the leading teams in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship.
This one-make series in approved by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and consists of 5 rounds. The first round will be held in Pune on April 23 and 24. The series will then head to Goa, Vadodara, Ludhiana and finally to the Delhi-NCR.
The competitors will be divided in 3 different categories - Pro Cadet (7-12 years of age), Pro Junior (12-16 years of age) and Pro Senior (above 16 years of age). Apart from the main series having three pro classes, seven support races will also be held. The support classes will comprise of Senior, Amateur, Interschool, Corporate, Masters (Age 32+), Women and Media.
