Kia is coming up with yet another formidable offering for the Indian market in the form of Carens. The MPV has been recently revealed completely in flash, and the initial impressions are pretty good. The vehicle continues the dynamic brand appeal with striking looks characterized by the signature tiger face with crown jewel split-LED headlights and digital radiator grille.
The side profile is flanked by 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, which are claimed to be first in class. The rear features sporty looking star map wraparound LED tail lamps and chrome bumper garnish.
The interiors of the Kia Carens are equally fascinating, with multiple dual-tone colours and seat pattern options, a high-tech dashboard with rich-looking materials. The fine detailing across the cabin lends a jazzy appeal to the interiors.
The ergonomics are top-notch, with a separate touch-based panel for accessing air conditioner and ambient lighting. The Kia Carens come in 6-7 seating configurations, with the second row in the 6-seater version getting captain seats, which can be tumbled at a touch of a button.
Being a Kia, the feature list has to be long, and Carens is no exception. The top-of-the-line variant will come equipped with amenities such as 10-inch touchscreen infotainment, powered by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with Kia’s connected car technology Kia Connect, which offer 66 smart features.
The car gets rich features such as a digital instrument cluster, 8-speaker Bose premium sound system, ventilated front seats and a wireless charger with a cooling function. Other comfort features include electrically foldable and adjustable ORVM, remote engine start, push-start button, single-pane sunroof, rain-sensing wiper, and 1st & 2nd-row cooling cup/can holders, among others.

Automatic Cruise control with speed limiting, front parking sensors and automatic headlamps are available across the variants, save the base model.
Powering the Kia Carens is the same engines doing their duties in Seltos. There are two petrol engines; one is the 1.5L motor that makes 115PS and 144Nm torque, and the other 1.4L turbocharged unit producing 140PS and 242Nm torque.
The gearbox options are a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT with the 1.4L engine, while the 1.5L motor gets only a 6-speed manual. The diesel engine is the 1.5L powertrain that generates 115PS and 250Nm torque, paired with either, a 6-speed manual, or a 6-speed automatic. The paddle-shifting feature is only available with 7-speed DCT and 6-speed automatic.
