After the successful 2016 Moto GP season-opener for Michelin, the official tyre supplier of the series, at Losail International Circuit, the tyre maker is all set for the 2nd round. This time, Michelin will be taking a long journey over the equator to head to Argentina in South America at the Termas de RÃo Hondo circuit, along with the contenders for 2016 Moto GP championship.
This racetrack is one of the fastest on 2016's Moto GP calendar. It comprises of fast sweeping corners with camber changes and the hard braking areas that will truly push the rider and the tyres to their limits. The nearly 5km-long circuit has nine right-hand turns and five left-hand turns. The tyres undergo lot of stress on the long turn six and turn eleven of the circuit so, the overall usage will be comparable on the either side of the tyre.
Michelin will offer two front tyre options for the race weekend - hard compound and medium compound Power Slick tyres. The hard option will be identified by the yellow band and the medium compound will have no band on it.
As far as options for rear tyre go, all riders will be offered the hard compound yellow band) and medium compound tyres. Additional to this, rain and intermediate tyres will also be available for use to tackle the weather uncertainty.
The soft compound Michelin Power Rain tyre will be marked by blue band and the hard compound rain tyre will have no colour marking. The Michelin Power Inter will have silver line on the tyre sidewall.
The race weekend will start on Friday, April 1, Â with two Free Practice sessions. Saturday will see the third Free Practice in the morning and qualifying during the afternoon. On Sunday, the race is scheduled to start at 16:00hrs local time (12:30 am Indian Standard Time).
