Michelin Launches Road 5 Tyres For Premium Bikes In India
Published On 24-Feb-2020
One of the most popular tyre manufacturers, Michelin has declared the launch of the Michelin Road 5 radial dual-compound tyres for the litre-class motorcycles marketed by two-wheeler companies in India. This tyre is claimed to perform better than the Pilot Road 4, which sold over 1.5 million units in four years. After running the Road 5 tyres for almost 4,800kms, Michelin claimed that this tyre had improved braking performance and exceptional wet grip. The testing proved that under braking Road 5 stopped way earlier than Pilot Road 4.
With the advantage of the most advanced rubber compound, Road 5 is able to deliver great dry weather grip performance. Also, it comes with Michelin’s ACT+ construction that improves cornering and straight-line stability.
Road 5 has been manufactured mostly for the application of Sport Touring as it uses a spied tread pattern with a dual compound construction. The tyre maker has utilised XST X sipe technology and carried it further with the assistance of XST Evo technology. This technology flaunts a blending of reservoirs and sipes created to cut through surface water and enhance the water-clearance capacity of the tyre. In addition to that, the tyre comes with wider grooves for better traction on wet surfaces.
Currently, the tyre maker will be presenting three sizes for the Road 5, one for the front tyre and other two for the rear tyre. 120/70 ZR17 will be offered as the size for the front tyre, and 190/50 ZR17 and 180/55 ZR 17 will be provided as the size of the rear tyre respectively.
