Michelin launches X-Multi commercial vehicle tyres in India

Michelin has launched a new range of tubeless commercial vehicle tyres in India. Billed as Michelin X Multi, the newly-launched series of tyres is specially developed and manufactured for the Indian market. Launched in two variants - X Multi Z (steer axle) and X Multi D (drive axle) - the new tyres are claimed to have reduced the wear and tear of the tread.

Among some of the major highlights of X Multi range, these tyres feature a new tread rubber compound that slows the rubber wear and tear to offer high tyre life. The tyre has wider tread and casing design that allows for maximum contact patch, thus offering better road grip. Michelin also says the X Multi tyres will have a special elastic rubber compound for the new crown design to reduce tyre damage. The tyre also complies with the strict environmental standards to control fuel consumption and reduce noise. Additionally, the X Multi has all-weather capability, the company claims.

Commenting on the occasion, Mohan Kumar, Commercial Director, Michelin India, said, “We are witnessing a positive momentum of new technology adoption in the Indian commercial vehicle segment and we believe that it is the right time to offer the discerning Indian fleet owner the new world of tubeless tyres. Our latest tubeless Michelin X Multi range has been specially designed and engineered, keeping in mind the tough road and weather conditions of India to offer better and safer driving experience, which is coupled with significantly increased cost efficiency to businesses that transport goods across the country."

The Michelin X Multi tyres will be manufactured at Michelin’s production facility near Chennai. The X Multi range of tyres will be available at authorised Michelin outlets across the country. The pricing for the X Multi tyres start from Rs 20,000 (plus local taxes as applicable).
