Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes to test Pirelli 2017 tyres
Published On 12-Oct-2016
After several bouts of rigorous testings by various popular Formula One drivers, Pirelli tyres for the 2017 would now be tested by the champions of Mercedes AMG Petronas team- Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
This has been in response to Pirelli's concern of having the tyres tested by experienced drivers. If the sources are to be believed, the official tyre maker for F1 has so far made a huge progress towards creating the right set of tyres for season 2017. But the demand for experienced drivers is seen as Pirelli's efforts to get the work right by ensuring the product is well suited for the races.
Lewis and Rosberg will have a day each at Spain's Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona for the testing. They would be driving the car tweaked to suit the next season's needs.
Mercedes AMG Petronas is the second team to use current race drivers after Ferrari, which has had Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen test the tyres.
This testing by Mercedes would be followed by Red Bull team, which is yet to announce its test drivers line-up.
