Nokian Tyres Introduces App That Monitors Tyres

Nokian Tyre has come out with smart tyres that digitally allows vehicle owners real-time tire management straight through a mobile app

Nokian Tyres Intuitu combines sensor-equipped tyres with a mobile application that records sensor data from tyres, keeping the user informed with the vital tyre pressure and temperature data.  “We have aimed to make the system plug & play”, says Toni Silfverberg, Head of Sales & Marketing at Nokian Heavy Tyres. “You just buy the tyres; install the application and you are good to go.”

Intuitu will be available in agriculture and contracting tyres at first but Nokian aims to extend the system to its entire commercial range. “The application gives the drivers peace of mind by keeping them informed about the tire pressure and temperature, helping to prevent tire damage and warning about possible anomalies. Keeping the tires in good condition keeps the machinery operational, minimizes downtime and other damage related costs.” Silfverberg said.

While talking about the advantages of Intuitu in terms of farm sustainability, Silfyerberg added, “Optimal pressure negates damage to the soil, which can improve crop yields while rolling resistance directly impact fuel consumption.”

Nokian Tyres Intuitu will be showcased at the 2019 Agritechnica in November, and the product will be commercially available in 2020. Tony Silfyerberg pointed out “If you register your tyres with Intuitu, you will get an extra year of warranty- which is no small deal.”
