OLA Electric Mobility, the electric two-wheeler subsidiary of the multinational ride-sharing company OLA cabs, has recently launched its electric scooter series in the Indian market. The scooter has become a blockbuster, and it can be seen in the fact, that even before the launch, the product has garnered a record number of bookings, with official deliveries yet to commence. It has created a world record of over 1 lakh bookings within 24 hours.

The OLA S1 and S1 Pro have been launched at the prices of Rs. 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999 respectively (including FAME II subsidy). The scooter is more affordable in some select states of India, as some of them have further given subsidies. The scooter is the complete made-in-India product, and the company has invested a huge amount of money in its manufacturing plant known as Futurefactory. 

Talking about the specs, the S1 features a 2.98KWh battery with the electric motor putting out 5.5KW of nominal and 8.5KW of peak power. The scooter can give a maximum range of 121kms on a full charge with a top speed of 90kmph. On the other hand, the S1 Pro has a 3.97kWh battery capacity which can provide a maximum range of 181kms. Both the models take 4.48 hours and 6.30 hours for a complete charge, while the fast charging for a range of 75kms can be done in just 18 mins. The charging is provided via a portable 750W charger.

Both the models get the same exterior profile, and the only differentiating factor is the badging on the rear end, above the taillamp. At the front, there is a simple-looking apron with a small OLA badge in the centre. The other highlighting factor on the front is the twin-pod LED headlight cluster surrounded by daytime running LEDs.

The scooter gets a large touchscreen display that conducts all the work of smartphone synchronization, music playback, calling, navigation, OTA updates and also service appointments, vehicle tracking and roadside assistance via an app. Other significant aspects of the scooter include LED turn indicators, horizontally mounted LED tail lamps and 36L under-seat storage. The scooter is also equipped with some unique features such as Hill Hold Control (S1 Pro), side stand alert, and remotely locking and unlocking the boot.

The scooter comes with a single fork suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. The braking mechanism includes hydraulic disc brakes on both the ends and Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Combi Brake System (CBS) for further support. The scooter comes with aluminium alloy as standard with a ground clearance of 165mm.
