Yokohama becomes official tyre supplier for Sepang 12 Hours race

Japanese tyre maker Yokohama Rubber has been chosen as the official tyre provider for the 2016 edition of Sepang 12 Hours race. All the teams participating in the race in Malaysia will make use of the Yokohama Advan AA05 race tyre or Advan A006 wet weather tyre, depending upon the track conditions. Sepang 12 Hours will be the final round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, 2016.
Masataka Yamaishi, President, Yokohama Motorsports International Co. Ltd, said, “It is a great honour for Yokohama to be selected as the official tyre supplier for the first year of the new single tyre brand system in the Sepang 12 Hours. We are confident that we can provide high-quality tyres and race services, taking advantage of our past experiences. Thank you very much to Sepang International Circuit, SRO Motorsports Group and all of the teams.”
Benjamin Franassovici, Manager, Sepang 12 Hours, said, “I am very pleased to confirm that on top of the manufacturers entered as part of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, most participants from last year will return. Besides that, new entries will be taking part in the 2016 edition. “
Stephane Ratel, Founder and CEO, SRO Motorsports Group, opined that choosing an official tyre supplier will make for more exciting races. He said, “The appointment of Yokohama as a single tyre supplier is proof that the interest in our new Intercontinental GT Challenge is ever increasing. Furthermore, this gives all the teams the opportunity to compete on equal terms, which will certainly lead to an exciting edition of the Sepang 12 Hours.”
Yokohama will supply Advan A005 and A006 tyres to all classes- GT3 machinery, Touring Production, GT4/Sport Production and TC class.
