Simha is another product from the TVS Tyres company, which is developed for mopeds. This is a 16 inch sized tyre that has wide circumferential grooves for better dispersion of water. The tread design also features large blocks to ensure it receives proper grip on all road conditions. It has the ability to reach a top speed of approximately 120 Kmph. Not only it is long lasting but it also gives an outstanding performance on all kinds of roads, be it wet or dry. Some other aspects of this model are mentioned below:

  • Stiffer side walls that helps in increasing the tread life.
  • The traction on wet surfaces is quite good.
  • Emits very less noise.
  • Improves handling even when taking turns.

In addition to these, it is also good in improving fuel efficiency as well as braking ability.

  • Width

2.25 is the width in millimetres of the tyres cross section.

  • Construction

Radial construction. R stands for radial-ply construction.

  • Rim

16 inches, stands for the diameter of the wheel that the tyre is designed to fit.

  • Load Rating

36 (125 kg) is the load index i.e. the maximum weight each tyre can carry at full speed.

  • Speed Rating

L (120 kmph) is the speed rating i.e. the maximum speed for the tyre at full load.

Hi Naveen,

Generally tyres lasts for about 40,000-50,000 km. However this figure is just an estimated figure. Tyre wear depends on number of factors like your driving style, general maintenance like alignment/balancing and checking tyre pressures regularly.

I use a Hyundai Santro Xing (2012 model). The car is mainly driven on highways with not very good road-surfaces. Recently, I noticed the front tyres on my car with uneven tyre wear on one-side. I took the car to the repair shop where I was told to replace the tyres because they are worn out due to improper wheel alignment. I wanted to know if it is really necessary to replace the tyres

A car that is being driven with misaligned wheels tends to ‘eat’ the rubber and causes uneven tyre wear. Driving a tyre with an uneven wear pattern will greatly reduce steering response- the car will tend to ‘pull away’ which will eventually be of great concern to you as a driver. It is advised that you replace the tyres asap (stick with the same tyre size and rating as before); get the wheel-alignment done and also have front suspension components such as tie rods and ball joints etc., checked
