Michelin Launches New Range Of Tyres For Electric Buses

The high-performance tyres can withstand a massive load of electric batteries in these buses - up to 8 tonnes.
The French tyre maker Michelin is now offering a range of specifically designed tyres for electric buses. Known as X Incity EV Z, these tyres were initially planned for electric vehicles, but the range is now being extended to traditional buses.
In terms of performance, these tyres have been fortified to withstand the load capacity of up to 8 tonnes. This has been done to endure the heavyweight of electric buses owing to their huge batteries.
The company has also increased the safety aspects by specifically paying attention to the sidewalls as they come in regular contact with the sidewalk edges. Whenever there is a need for tyre rotation, the wear indicators on the sidewalls clearly indicate the same.
The design of Michelin X Incity EV Z tyres is a blend of many elements that will not only boost performance but will also give longevity.
The tyre manufacturer has applied its exclusive Regenion technology in the tread that comes with progressive design, returning longitudinal and lateral grip on various surfaces. Moreover, the tyre can be regrooved and retread to add hundreds and thousands of miles to its overall life.
The tyre also promises to reduce fleet operating costs and make the most out of the investment. Thanks to the 13 per cent improved rolling resistance which increases efficiency in the long run.
Further, the company has launched only a standard size 275/70 R 22.5 152/149J to support fleet management. The tyre range also gets a 3PMSF (three-peak mountain snowflake) mark, which means a high-level performance on snowy traction.

Currently, there are over 5,000 electric buses plying in Europe and just in a span of five years, the number is expected to increase tenfold. With the introduction of this new range of tyres, Michelin is facilitating the efforts for cleaner, independent and more efficient solutions in the field of electric mobility.
