Kumho Tyre Company, which is formally known as Samyang Tire in South Korea, is a subsidiary of the Kumho Asiana Group. Founded in the year 1960, the company has managed to establish itself across the entire Europe and American continents. In the year 1965, they first launched its export operations to Thailand, which was worth USD 7700. After almost a decade, in the year 1975, it developed tyres for several aircrafts. In the following year, it had exceeded a whopping 1 million units annual production in Korea. In its journey since inception, the tyre maker achieved several awards and ISO certifications. At the same time, it was also ranked as No.1 in Korea's Customer Satisfaction Index (KCSI) from 2009 till date. Headquartered in Gwangju, South Korea, this firm manufacturers a wide range of tyres under its Kumho brand. At present, it has a total of three research and development centers located in Korea, USA and England. Besides Korea, it has three manufacturing facilities in China and one unit located in Binh Duong province, Vietnam. Currently, it has an annual revenue of over USD 3.57 billion and a net income of over USD 104.87 million. With a work force of over 5000 employees, Kumho produces Original Equipment (OE) tyres for various automobile companies like Renault Samsung, Ssangyong, MINI, Ford, Hyundai and others.

In the year 2007, Manchester United Football Club had announced Kumho Tyres as its official sponsor and a Platinum partner. At the same time, this firm had also sponsored for the Rapid Vienna and Hamburger SV football clubs of Europe. Kumho Tyres was also associated with the National Basketball Association (NBA) of United States in the year 2013.

Dealership Network in India:

 
At present, the manufacturer has only one dealership in India. This outlet is located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh and they import and distribute these tyres all across the country. However, these products are also available for sale through e-retailers, wherein the product prices are very competitive. Currently, there are speculations that the company might set up a manufacturing facility in the country in order to be more combative in this segment. Establishment of a plant in the country will certainly help to lower the prices of its tyres in India to a major level. Furthermore, it offers an attractive warranty period of 6 years (for passenger cars) and 5 years for lightweight and heavy duty truck tyres.
