    Origin and Expansion

    MRF is India's largest tyre manufacturer and is ranked amongst the Top 20 Global Manufacturers with 9 state-of-the-art factories across India. It is also India's largest Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) tyre supplier with an expansive car tyre range.
    MRF originally started as a humble shack manufacturing toy balloons. It was set up by KM Mammen Mappillai in 1946. The history of MRF Tyres is really amazing, what started with an initial investment of Rs. 14000, is currently a multi-billion rupee legacy. The company is a renowned and prominent brand of our country.
    In the year 1952, it changed its course to tread rubber manufacturing and today it is one of the leading tyre manufacturers in India. In the year 1956, the tyre maker led the tread rubber industry in India by having more than 50% of the share in the market. In the early 1960's, MRF Tyres also started exporting superior quality tyres to many dealers abroad.

    Achievements:

    Ever since its inception, MRF has won many awards, which include the silver award that is won by no other Indian company till date. According to a global CSR study done a few years ago, the company was voted as the most trusted tyre firm in India.
    MRF won the JD Power Award for the record 13th time in 2018. Apart from this, the company has also won several awards and accolades including the All India Rubber Industries Association's (AIRIA) award for 'Highest Export Awards (Auto Tyre Sector)', 'Top Export Award' from Chemicals & Allied Products Export Promotion Council (CAPEXIL) for 2009–10.
