With Creta, Hyundai has made a remarkable presence in the midsize SUV segment. Despite the arrival of fresher competition in recent times, the Hyundai Creta has been able to hold its position as the best-selling midsize SUV of India very comfortably. Hyundai intended to make a similar mark in the growing midsize seven-seater SUV segment, which it wishes to do so with the seven-seater version of the Creta, the Hyundai Alcazar.

To start with, the Hyundai Alcazar is more than being just a seven-seater version of Creta. It has substantially different looking front and rear profiles, which gives it its own identity. Understandably, the side profile looks different too, due to the extended overhang at the rear to accommodate a third of the seats. All in all, it certainly looks more premium and bigger over the Creta on which it is based, while wearing the identity of a seven-seater version of Creta, especially at the front.

On the inside, the Hyundai Alcazar has the same dashboard layout as the Creta but gets its own dual-tone black and brown upholstery to make it look different and more upmarket over the Creta. The Alcazar is available in both six and seven-seater layouts, with the former having a captain seat arrangement for the middle row.

The Hyundai Alcazar is packed with features like LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, air purifier with AQI display, 7-inch full-TFT instrument console, blind view monitor, ventilated front seats, wireless charger for front and second rows, powered driver’s seat, 360-degree parking camera and leather upholstery. 

The Hyundai Alcazar is available with two engine options to choose from – a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which produces 159 PS of power and 192 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which pumps out 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. Both these engine options are available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. 

The Hyundai Alcazar is on offer with three different trim levels – Prestige, Platinum and Signature. The colour options on offer for these three variants are Taiga Brown, Polar White, Phantom Black, Typhoon Silver, Starry Night and Titan Grey. The six-seater Signature variants are also available with dual-tone colour options of Polar White with Phantom Black roof and Titan Grey with Phantom Black roof.
