Fiat selects Goodyear tyres as original equipment on Fiat 500X

Fiat has selected Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance and Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres as original equipment for its recently launched crossover Fiat 500X in Europe. On the other hand, in North America, the car will get Nexen's tyres. The all-new crossover from the Italian car manufacturer was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last year. It is available in two versions targated at different market segments. The first version is aimed at the city based motorists and is equipped with the EfficientGrip Performance (215/55RI7 94V). While the other model is more rugged and have more sport applications, fitted with the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 (225/45R18 91Y).

Hans Vrijsen, marketing director consumer EMEA, said: “We are pleased to offer tyres that not only fit the overall polish and panache of the FIAT 500X but are also customized to fulfill the car’s different driving needs. The Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance tyre provides excellent rolling resistance performance and braking performance suitable for a city car, while the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 has a large rim size, offering exceptional braking and handling.”

According to Goodyear, both tyres suit the new 500X's improved focus on safety anf efficiency. The EfficientGrip Performance provides an A-rated wet grip and offers short braking distances. Also, the tyre gives improves fuel mileage. On the other hand, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 also provides short braking distance on wet and dry road surgaces. Along with that, it gives an excellent fuel economy.

All these features are complemented by a car that comes with a Drive Mood Sekector feature. This offers three settings for engine, brake, steering and transmission to offer improved comfort, consumption and CO2 emissions for all scenarios. The new 500X also gets the company's “eco:Drive” technology, which according to the manufacturere, can help reduce CO2 emmisions and fuel consumption by up to 16 percent.
