Hankook Tire wins Product and Concept award at iF Design Award 2019

Hankook Tire bagged three awards at the iF Design Awards 2019. South Korean tyre brand won these awards in the categories of Professional Concept and Product. The products winning these awards were Hankook Hexonic, Hankook HLS-23 and Hankook Kinergy 4S 2.

While Hexonic and HLS-23 are concept tyres, Kinergy 4S-2 is a passenger car tyre. These tyres were developed in close collaboration with students of Royal College of Art (RCA).

Hankook Tire President & CEO Hyun Bum Cho said, “It’s an honor to be awarded the iF Design Award. We set out to create the most practical yet attractive tire design and are proud to be recognized by one of the world’s most prestigious design awards.” He added, “Hankook Tire will continue its commitment to building the most innovative high-performance products.”

Hankook Hexonic concept tyre has been specifically designed for autonomous share cars and comes equipped with multiple sensors for smart driving solutions. HLS-23 is geared towards logistics transport system and can support features like road-coordinate recognition and self-charging.

Kinergy 4S-2 is an all season tyre that offers superb traction, especially over wet surfaces. It makes use of asymmetrical V-shaped pattern to disperse water and prevent hydroplaning. The tread pattern consists of unique sipes that actively aid in keeping the vehicle stable over wet surfaces.

The iF Design Award is presented by the International Forum Design, a German marketing consulting firm, and it is one of the top three most reputable international design awards along with the Reddot Design Award and the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA).
