Maxxis Tyres to again sponsor Team Coronel in Dakar Rally 2019

Team Coronel would be relying on Maxxis for tyre support for the Dakar rally 2019. The tyre brand is a key sponsor for the team and has designed tyres that would endure 5,000 kms of rough terrains.
Maxxis Tyres is once again the key sponsor for the Team Coronel competing at this Dakar Rally. With tyre support from Maxxis, Coronel would be aiming to clutch the trophy for one of the most famed and incredibly tough rallies in the world.
The Beast
Team Coronel comprises twin brothers Tim and Tom Coronel who would take over the Dakar rally with their buggy, called ‘The Beast’. It is essentially an American Jefferies Buggy which has been restyled and tweaked to be a Baja-style desert vehicle. Powering this beast is a 6.2L Chevrolet engine that has received multiple tweaks for this season.

Dakar rally puts the vehicle through a gruelling test and the tyres have a very special role to play. They are subjected to all the abuses thrown at them by variety of terrains and surface conditions. The drivers practically do not have time to change flat tyres or store spare ones.This necessitates for tyres to be ultra durable and perform their best in all scenarios.
Maxxis is providing Team Coronel with 4x4 profile M8060 tyres in size 37x12.5-17 8PR and speed index 124Q. These tyres have been specially designed for Dakar. Maxxis has been constantly improving these tyres by incorporating team’s feedback year after year.
Dakar Rally will be flagged off on January 6th 2019 and would see 334 vehicles attempting to cover 5,000 Kilometres and finish at Lima by January 17th.
