  • Hankook Ventus S1 evo2
  • Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3
  • Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT2
  • Falken Azenis FK510
  • Yokohama Advan Sport V105
  • Continental ContiSportContact 5

All these tyres were tested across various parameters including dry handling and braking, rolling resistance, cabin noise, wet handling and braking, wet and dry cornering, aquaplaning etc. In order to maintain a level playing field Volkswagen Golf was chosen as the standard testing vehicle for all the tyres.

Pilot Sport-4 bagged the top spot with 100% result, closely followed by Pirelli P Zero at 99.1% result. Third spot was taken by Continental ContiSportContact 5 while Vredestein Ultrac Vorti was seen filling the last position.

Praising Michelin Pilot Sport-4, tester at Auto Express said, “There’s a liveliness to the steering that makes most rivals seem soft and spongy. It starred in the braking tests, making rivals look ordinary in the wet. There was also a clear margin in the dry.”

Michelin revealed that a lot of technologies incorporated in Pilot Sport-4 are derived from the company's involvement in Formula-E-world’s first electric single-seater race series.

Rebeca Nieto, Michelin’s Commercial Director for Car, Van and 4 x 4 in the UK and Ireland, said “The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is testament to our track to street philosophy. We got involved with Formula E at its inception because we knew we would learn so much in a very short space of time. The series uses a tyre size that relates to on-the-road cars and it takes place on real roads with potholes, rough surfaces, grids, surface paint and everything else motorists are faced with every day.”

Pilot Sport-4 comes with a responsive tread which makes for better traction and handling. Optimal Directional control is offered through New Dynamics Response system while homogeneous compound mix made up of functional-elastomers improve wet braking and handling.
