JK Tyre, along with Delhi Police, initiated Road Safety Week 2016 in Delhi on Monday, January 11, 2016. This campaign will be held from January 11-17, 2016. The Road Safety Week was flagged-off in the presence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. The dignitaries led the young NCC cadets and members of city-based NGOs from India Gate to Shastri Bhawan. The National Road Safety Week is organised every year to sensitize citizens towards better traffic habits and increasing road accidents.

Commending the initiative, Marketing Director, JK Tyre and Industries Limited, Vikram Malhotra said, “We at JK Tyre feel that it is every citizen’s responsibility to make his or her roads safe and clean. From a car owner to a pedestrian, everyone has the equal right to safe, clean and quiet roads.”

He added, “National Road Safety Week is an opportunity for Governments, corporates and individuals to come together and help create ‘people-friendly’ roads.”

Over the years, the number of vehicles on the road has increased manifold. This has led to many problems like congestion, air pollution and accidents. Till August 2015, around 5280 accidents took place on the roads of Delhi, in which 1030 people lost their lives.

JK Tyre regularly takes several initiatives in partnership with governmental and non-governmental organisations to raise awareness around Road Safety. This include on-ground campaigns, driver training programmes, motor-rallies and media campaigns. The upcoming initiative by the company is the Parliamentarian Car Rally in March.
