Yokohama rises to 2nd position at the MRF Rally de North

Driving a Volkswagen Polo on Yokohama rubber, rally car driver Karna Kadur bagged 2nd position overall in the 3rd round of MRF Rally de North. Held in Gurgaon, Rally de North is a one of the rounds of the FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) and Indian Rally Championship (IRC).
Karna came out as the winner of the INRC 2000 category. Another driver from Team Yokohama, Rahul Kanthraj, bagged the 3rd position in his Mitsubishi Cedia.
“We are proud of Team Yokohama. This is the first time in 11 years that the INRC is being held in the North. Yokohama has been a part of Motorsport activities since 2007. The company has achieved Podium finishes in all the rallies wherever it has participated along with achieving various victories earlier in Himalayan car rally too”. Said Sanjay Chatterjee, Chief General Manager Sales & Marketing, Yokohama India Pvt Ltd.
The rally, involving a gravel/dirt track, saw participation from over 40 teams. Keeping in mind the rules and regulations, tyre sizes allowed were 185/65 R15 88Q A035 and 85/60 R15 84Q A035.
“Majority of rally drivers prefer using the Yokohama rally tyre only because of their durability and unmatched performance. In these rallies, a car’s endurance is tested to the limits and the tyre being the only point of ground contact for the car is tested beyond its ultimate strength”, Sanjay added.
Yokohama, one of the top tyre makers in the world, has had an association with motor sports in India since 2007. It has been victorious in Himalyan Car Rallies for three consecutive years- 2009, 2010 and 2011 and won the IRC 2000cc and 1600cc categories in 2015.
Yokohama has also been the sole official tyre supplier to FIA World Tourinf Car Championship ( WTCC) since 2006. It is also famous among passenger cars and is Original Equipment for various prominent car makers including Toyota, Audi, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Suzuki, Honda and Mitsubishi.
