With the Super Meteor 650, Royal Enfield has expanded its lineup of middleweight offerings which get the manufacturer’s potent air-cooled, parallel-twin, 648cc engine. Unlike the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT650, the Super Meteor 650 is a true-blue, low-slung cruiser, with forward-set foot pegs and a high-set handlebar.
The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has been launched in India in three variants – Astral, Interstellar and Celestial. All these three variants are differentiated based on colour options. The base-spec Astral variant is available in single-tone colour options like Astral Black, Astral Blue and Astral Green. The mid-spec Interstellar can be had in one of the two dual-tone colours – Interstellar Grey and Interstellar Green.
The top-spec Celestial variant, which also features a tall windscreen and backrest, is offered in two dual-tone colours – Celestial Blue and Celestial Red. The Astral variant costs Rs 3.49 lakh, followed by Interstellar (Rs 3.64 lakh) and Celestial (Rs 3.79 lakh).

In terms of design, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 looks like an evolved and larger version of the smaller Meteor 350. It has become the first motorcycle from Royal Enfield to feature an LED headlamp. It also gets an LED tail lamp, alloy wheels, a part-digital instrument console and a Tripper navigation unit as standard. As mentioned above, the top-spec variant also gets a tall windscreen and backrest for pillion riders.
Powering the Super Meteor 650 is the same four-stroke, parallel-twin, air-cooled, 648cc engine we have seen in the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT650. However, for the Super Meteor 650, the engine and gearing have been tuned differently for more torque in the mid-range. The engine delivers 47 PS of power and 52.3 Nm of torque and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

The Super Meteor 650 is the first motorcycle from Royal Enfield to come with upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front, while it has dual-sided hydraulic coil springs at the back. Riding on 100/90-19 front and 150/80 B16 rear tubeless tyres, the Super Meteor 650 has a 320mm front and 300mm disc at the rear for braking duties.
