Continental Becomes Official Factory-Fitted Tyre Partner Of BYD Seal

Continental will be supplying two of its tyres – SportContact 7 and EcoContact 6 Q – for the BYD Seal for varying auto markets.

• For the Chinese car market, the factory-fitted tyre option for BYD Seal is Continental SportContact 7.
• Continental EcoContact 6 Q assigned for BYD Seal manufactured for export markets.
• The tyre size of Continental tyres for BYD Seal is 235/45 R19.

Build Your Dreams (BYD), the leading electric car maker from China has joined hands with Continental Tyres for its latest all-electric offering, the Seal e-sedan. The new BYD Seal will come with premium 19-inch Continental SportContact 7 tyres for the Chinese market and 19-inch Continental EcoContact 6 Q for the sedan manufactured for export markets. 

Continental SportContact 7 For the BYD Seal For the Chinese Market

Exclusively designed for premium sporty vehicles, the Continental SportContact 7 claims to offer improved handling and shorter braking distances. Compared to the previous model of the tyre, the new Continental SportContact 7 has improved braking performance over wet surfaces by a margin of around 8 per cent and over dry surfaces by a margin of around 6 per cent. Additionally, the tyre’s mileage is also claimed to have improved by around 17 per cent than before.

All the benefits claimed by Continental SportContact 7 are primarily due to the ContiSilent technology, which intends to reduce the rolling noise inside the passenger compartment of the already-silent BYD Seal by around 9 decibels. To achieve this, Continental has given this tyre a special foam layer inside of its tread, which helps it in absorbing vibrations caused during driving. 

The Continental SportContact 7 is assigned for the China-spec BYD Seal in 235/45 R19 95Y tyre size, which has a higher speed rating than the EcoContact 6 Q for the Seal made for export markets.

Continental EcoContact 6 Q For The BYD Seal For Export Markets

Claiming to offer reduced rolling resistance and rolling noise, the Continental EcoContact 6 Q designed for the BYD Seal is in the tyre size of 235/45 R19 99V. Exclusively designed for electric vehicles in general, the Continental EcoContact 6 Q is composed of a special rubber compound for effective energy absorption when the vehicle is in motion. 

Eventually, this compound also reduces friction, rolling resistance and braking distances, thanks to the improved tyre tread. Even at higher speeds, the Continental EcoContact 6 Q claims to offer exceptional grip over both wet and dry surfaces.
