- The prime highlights of this new generation tyre include solid construction of the carcass and a large contact area.
- It is the first supermoto tyre to feature the BlackChili compound.
Leading global tyre maker, Continental has introduced a new range of tubeless radial tyres for street-legal supermoto motorcycles – ContiAttack SM. The second-generation version of the ContiAttack SM EVO, the new Continental ContiAttack SM 2 tyres feature a new-age BlackChili compound and other technologies and are primarily designed to enhance track performance for supermoto motorcycles.
Compared to its predecessor, the ContiAttack SM EVO, the new Continental ContiAttack SM 2 claims 28 per cent higher mileage, thanks to its solid construction of the carcass and large contact area. To be launched in the first quarter of 2024, the new Continental ContiAttack SM 2 will be available initially in two sizes – 120/70 R17 front and 160/60 R17. However, three more tyre sizes will be added to the range in the second half of 2024 – 110/70 R17 front, 140/70 R17 rear and 150/60 R17 rear.
Based on the brand’s sportiest carcass for motorcycles, the Continental ContiAttack SM 2 features a low negative proportion for the tyre profile, which ensures the highest possible lean angles for supermotos while cornering. With the increased tread depth over its predecessor, the new Continental ContiAttack SM 2 also manages much more track runs. Following are the technologies used in the development of this new supermoto tyre from Continental:
- GripLimitFeedback – This technology used in Continental ContiAttack SM 2 increases safety levels while cornering by ensuring precise feedback about increases in the coefficient of friction between the tyre and the road.
- RainGrip – Used for excellent wet grip optimization, this technology uses a specially activated silica mixture for the best possible grip over wet surfaces without any adverse effect on the mileage in the long run.
- BlackChili Compound – Used for the first time in a supermoto tyre, this exclusive tread compound is based on the recently developed polymer and raw materials. For this compound, many synthetic rubbers are combined to create a high-performance compound, which is mixed with nanometric soot particles. The primary effect of this compound is increased grip levels and mileage.
- MultiGrip – To prevent annoying transitions between different compounds when moving from the central tread area to the shoulder, this technology is used for a homogenous gradation of grip levels with one compound.
- TractionSkin – Thanks to the micro-rough tread, this technology reduces the hassles of starting the new tyre by offering impressive grip levels from the first meter.
- ZeroDegree – As per this technology, a premium steel belt construction is made with the alignment of the belt position on the carcass on the tyres in the direction of travel for excellent stability at higher speeds.
