Kia has launched the Sonet subcompact SUV, here is a variant wise explanation of its wheels and tyres

Kia has launched the much-awaited Sonet in the Indian market with an introductory price starting at Rs 6.71 lakh for the base HTE trim, extending up to Rs 11.99 lakh for the top-spec GTX+. Sonet is Kia’s third offering for India and the subcompact SUV has managed to grab eyeballs with over 25,000 bookings in a month’s time.

Kia has offered the Sonet compact SUV in two variant line - the Tech Line and the GT Line, and it further splits into six variants - HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+. There are two petrol engines on offer, the first is a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre unit that makes 83 hp and 115 Nm of torque and only comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The second engine is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol that produces 120hp and 175 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed iMT gearbox or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. In addition to these, there is also a 1.5-litre diesel engine (100hp and 240 Nm torque) paired to 6-speed manual gearbox.

In terms of styling, the Sonet looks bold with muscular lines and big wheel arches. The top variant GT Line gets a 16-inch crystal cut alloy wheels with 215/60 cross-section tyres along with red brake callipers. Kia has offered two tyre options for the new Sonet. The base HTE trim comes equipped with a 15 -inch steel wheel while the HTK,HTK+, and HTX get 16-inch metallic silver styled wheels. Meanwhile, top variants HTX+ and the GTX+ are fitted with 16-inch crystal cut alloy wheels.
