Ather 450 Apex Launched At Rs 1.89 Lakh Featuring MRF Zapper N Tubeless Tyres

Ather Energy has raised the bars of performance and exclusivity with its new flagship electric scooter, the 450 Apex. Here are all the details of the changes and add-ons introduced in the new Ather 450 Apex, including the tyres it comes with:

• The new Ather 450 Apex gets styling tweaks and a more powerful electric motor over the 450X. 
• It gets the same wheel and tyre setup as the Ather 450X – 90/90-12 front and 100/80-12 rear MRF Zapper N tubeless tyres. 
• It is the only electric scooter from Ather to get the new, more powerful Warp+ riding mode, which gives it faster acceleration timing and a top speed of 100 kmph. 
  

Ather has expanded the lineup of 450 range of electric scooters by launching a new range-topping version, the 450 Apex. Launched as a performance-oriented scooter, the Ather 450 Apex is priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), making it Rs 21,000 more expensive than the previous flagship, the 450X with Pro Pack. The Ather 450 Apex is based on the 450X, but gets a few minor visual tweaks and a new Warp+ riding mode while retaining the powertrain from the 450X, though in a different state of tune. 

Here are all the details of its tyres and design and mechanical changes introduced in the new Ather 450 Apex:

Ather 450 Apex: Tyres & Wheels

The new Ather 450 Apex retains the wheel and tyre combination from the Ather 450X electric scooter, which means that the former too comes with 12-inch alloy wheels that have a 90/90-12 tyre at the front and a 100/80-12 tyre at the rear. For the 450 Apex, Ather Energy has relied on MRF Zapper N tubeless tyres, which are also offered in the Ather 450X.

Exclusively developed for the distinctive rear tyre size of Ather 450 Apex, the new MRF Zapper N is also available in the common 90/90-12 front tyre size, which is also offered in many other scooters in India. This MRF tubeless tyre for Ather 450 Apex has a larger land area and extended shoulder design, which makes it look stylish, while also enhancing the grip and traction of the scooter. The tyre has a special compound in its composition, which further increases the grip levels at all speeds.

Ather 450 Apex: Looks & Design

For the 450 Apex, Ather Energy hasn’t changed the design of the scooter extensively, as it continues to be based on the other two models from Ather – 450S and 450X. However, to distinguish it from the other more affordable models, Ather has given the 450 Apex a new special Indium Blue colour for its body panels, with the rear ones having a transparent look. Due to the transparency of the rear side body panels, one can have a clear look at the bright orange chassis underneath it.

Apart from this minor visual change, the Ather 450 Apex retains the other elements of the 450X, including the all-LED illumination for headlamp and tail lamp assemblies and a full-TFT touchscreen instrument console with Bluetooth and navigation. It also gets a new enclosed belt drive system, which will be introduced in other Ather models in the coming weeks. 

Ather 450 Apex: Engine & Specifications

The new Ather 450 Apex gets the same 3.7kWh battery pack which is offered in the 450X electric scooter. However, for the 450 Apex, Ather Energy is using a new regenerative braking system, thus helping it to bump the maximum riding range from this battery, which now claims an IDC-certified range of 157 km.

Powering the Ather 450 Apex is a nee 7kW electric motor, with the scooter also getting an exclusive Warp+ riding mode, which is not offered in other electric scooters from Ather. In the Warp+ riding mode, the new Ather 450 Apex claims 0-40 kmph sprint timing of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 100 kmph.
