BMW R 1300 GS: Tyres And Wheels
All the variants of the BMW R 1300 GS on sale in India have got cross-spoke wheels as standard – 19-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear. These cross-spoke wheels come wrapped with Metzeler Karoo 4 tubeless tyres as standard – 120/70 R19 tyre at the front and 170/60 R17 tyre at the rear.
The Metzeler Karoo 4 tyres for BMW R 1300 GS are composed of a front single compound, which is a mixture of new-generation hard and resistant rubbers and gives it a wide temperature operating range. The patented multi-pitch knob layout of this tyre comprises multi-sequence tread pitch and larger knobs within the contact area for reduced tyre noises and smoother ride quality.
The Metzeler Karoo 4 also has a transversal knob layout for enhanced off-road traction and road stability. While the patented DETRATEC (Dual-Effect Traction Technology) gives it the self-cleaning ability while riding over muddy and wet terrains, the patented DYMATEC (Dynamic Mould Angle Technology) has optimised tread resistance and variable groove wall angles for uniform wear at different lean angles.
