Ducati DesertX Rally Debuts In India, Sprints On Premium Pirelli Scorpion Rally Tyres

Launched at Rs 23.71 lakh, the new Ducati DesertX Rally has debuted as a more serious off-road-oriented version of the already-accomplished DesertX. Read more to find out the details of the hardcore wheels and tyres offered in the new DesertX Rally:
- Receives a higher off-roading mudguard, carbon sump guard, redesigned fuel tank and a dedicated rally seat.
- Spoke wheels feature Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres of size 90/90-21 at front and 150/70 R18 at rear.
- Liquid-cooled, L-twin, 937cc engine remains intact, but the KYB-sourced suspension has been tweaked with more travel.
Ducati has expanded its lineup of DesertX adventure motorcycles in India by introducing a new, more hardcore version of the motorcycle. Named Ducati DesertX Rally, this new, more expensive version of the DesertX adventure tourer has more rugged styling, tyres, wheels and revised suspension to offer a more hardcore off-road riding ability and visual appeal.

Like many purposeful adventure tourers, the Ducati DesertX Rally also comes with a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, with both being spoke units. The tyres offered as standard over these spoke wheels are 90/90-21 at the front and 150/70 R18 at the rear, with both being tube-type Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.
Complementing the rugged and tough design and abilities of the Ducati DesertX Rally as a hardcore adventure tourer, the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres feature a new silica-rich compound. This exclusive compound increases the grip levels of the DesertX Rally on both wet and dry surfaces while offering superior abrasion resistance. This tube-type Pirelli tyre for the Ducati DesertX Rally also has an increased width and length of the contour and tread blocks, eventually increasing the grip levels.

Ducati DesertX Rally: Looks And Design
Like the standard DesertX, the new DesertX Rally has a rugged and functional design, which looks even more purposeful and off-road-ready with the changes introduced. The visual tweaks in the new Ducati DesertX Rally over the standard DesertX include a higher off-roading mudguard, a higher ground clearance, a carbon sump guard, a redesigned fuel tank with mass-coloured plastics and adhesive graphics and a dedicated rally seat.
The riding aids on offer in the new Ducati DesertX Rally are cornering ABS, cruise control, Ducati brake light, Ducati Multimedia System, quick-shifter, traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control and turn-by-turn GPS.
Ducati DesertX Rally: Engine And Specifications
Ducati has made no changes to the L-twin, liquid-cooled, 937cc engine from the standard DesertX, which here claims 110 PS of maximum power and 92 Nm of maximum torque and is paired with a 6-speed transmission. However, the fully adjustable, KYB-sourced 48mm inverted fork at the front and mono-shock at the rear have been reworked with more suspension travel.
