Mahindra has launched the all-new Scorpio in the market, which will be known by the new name Scorpio N. The prices for the SUV start from Rs. 11.99 lakh and goes up to Rs. 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The prices for the automatic and 4x4 variants will be announced on July 21, while the bookings will begin on July 30th, 2022.
The new Scorpio gets a significant makeover over its predecessor in terms of exteriors, interiors, engines, price and even positioning. The earlier model will be known as Scorpio Classic, and sold alongside the newer version.
The new Scorpio N looks more rounded and mature from the front with the signature grille, LED projector headlamps and LED foglamps surrounded by LED DRL strips. However, there are aggressive elements, including the muscular bumper and creases on the bonnet.
From the sides, the Scorpio appears to be a large vehicle with a strong shoulder line and flared wheel arches encompassing 17/18 inches alloy wheels. At the rear, it seems the taillamps of the SUV take inspiration from Volvo, while the overall profile looks more like an MPV.

The Scorpio N has been blessed with a modern design and looks generations ahead of the standard Scorpio. With a contemporary dashboard blended in black and brown leathers, the carmaker has used premium materials across the cabin. In terms of practicality, there are several cup holders, shallow underarm storage, wide door pockets, and a decent-sized glove box which is cooled.
The equipment level has been upped in Scorpio N with features, including 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a semi-digital instrument cluster, push engine start/stop button, and a non-panoramic sunroof. The safety has also been enhanced with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill assist and descent control, automatic headlamps, front and rear camera and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The engine options include both diesel and petrol. The 2.2L diesel motor produces two different power outputs; 132PS/300Nm and 175PS and 370Nm (400Nm in automatic), while the 2.0L turbo-petrol unit makes 203PS and 370Nm (380Nm in automatic) torque.
A 6-speed MT is standard, while there is also an option for a 6-speed automatic gearbox available with both diesel and petrol mills. All the engines come with standard rear-wheel drive, while the diesel engine that makes 175PS can also be availed with shift-on-fly four-wheel drive. The new Mahindra Scorpio N is available in two tyre sizes viz. 245/65 R17 and 255/60 R18, depending on the variant you choose. The spare wheel size is also available with the same dimensions. The base and middle variants get 17-inch steel wheels, while the top-end variants get 17 and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The Scorpio gets MRF Wanderer EcoTred tyres, which are known for offering excellent grip in different driving conditions. The tyres are an off-road special, with computer-generated tread block sequences and cut-resistant tread compounds ensuring outstanding performance on rough roads. The multi-layered sidewall of the tyre not only looks aesthetically pleasing but also offers superior braking and durability.
And apart from wide grooves providing excellent dry and wet grip, the innovative tread pattern will let you derive more fuel economy.
